Moms are too often the unsung heroes of family documentation—always behind the camera, rarely in the frame. As a mother of two myself, I know firsthand that it's nearly impossible to capture the perfect selfie with my girls, or worse yet, set up a picture-perfect shot only to have my husband crop out my head or photograph me mid-sentence as I'm "art-directing." This is where Motherhood Portraits swoops in to save the day! These pop-up sessions are short in duration, yet rich in meaning—and with over 10 years experience photographing little ones, I guarantee a final gallery of photos that will undoubtedly melt your heart and make it to that coveted spot on the mantle. 

Each shoot includes fifteen (painless!) minutes in front of the camera with your kiddos, and results in 15 edited hi-res photos that you can download and keep forever. I photograph you in soft and flattering natural light, I don't require anyone to sit and say cheese, and I have a host of tricks up my sleeve to ease even the most camera-shy babe. The ultimate goal is finding natural, love-filled moments and preserving memories that are anything but staged. Mamas, it's high time you treat yourself to some time in front of the lens—you and your children will treasure these gifts for years to come, and dare I say you'll have some serious fun in the process!

The next Motherhood Portraits Pop-Up will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Apex Studios in Downtown LA. The address is 1024 South Santee St Suite 800, Los Angeles, CA 90015. 

how much and what do i get?

All sessions are $675 and payment must be received up front in order to confirm your booking. Each session includes the following: a 15-minute portrait shoot (all on film!) with Nicki, a private online gallery with 10-15 hi-res images, a direct download of all edited hi-res photos to keep, and a parting gift bag with a few goodies to make you feel extra special!

when will i receive my images?

Images will be delivered—via an emailed invite to your own personal, password-protected gallery—within two weeks of the pop-up.

what do I bring and what do we wear?

In order to keep these sessions as natural as possible, I generally refrain from using props. That being said, if your little one has a lovey that he/she/they just can't part with, or refuses to put down his/her/their favorite stuffed animal, we go with it (after all, we're capturing the real and the now)! As far as wardrobe choices are concerned, go with what speaks to you and your family’s style. If your toddler refuses to wear anything but pjs, go with it! If your little one identifies as a superhero and swears by their cape, we acquiesce! After all, this session is capturing a specific (and fleeting) moment in time, and you’ll want to remember everyone exactly as they are in this moment. So, with that said, pops of color are encouraged, costumes are welcomed, and prints and patterns are highly recommended! Stay true to you, and you’re golden.

How old should my children be?

Motherhood Portraits sessions are for babies and kiddos and grown-ups of any age! I've photographed brand new humans less than two weeks old, as well as teenagers and even multiple generations! If you can snuggle them, then you can bring them.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?

I totally get it—things happen (especially when little ones are in the mix)! Unfortunately at this time, we're unable to offer refunds once a session is booked. That being said, you are more than welcome to transfer your time slot to a friend and take care of the transaction yourself—just email me at nickisebastian[at]gmail[dot]com to let me know in advance so I know who to expect!

WILL YOU BE OFFERING THESE POP-UPS IN OTHER CITIES?

As of now, these sessions are only offered in Los Angeles. But travel pop-ups are definitely on my future wish list, and I'd love nothing more than to take this show on the road. If you live in a city where you’d like me to travel, I’m all ears—please get in touch and we’ll see what we can cook up!
